Proverbs 31:13 – She Selects

Proverbs 31:13

Proverbs 31:13 tells us something very important about God's ideal woman. It tells us that she selects:

She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands.

– Proverbs 31:13

To select means to “carefully choose.”

It's the opposite of going with the flow. Or as young people today like to say: WHATEVER!

Whatever! is exactly the opposite of what we see in Proverbs 31:13. The Proverbs 31 woman makes decisions about what she wants to bring into her life.

Every moment of every day we are choosing. Even when we refuse to proactively choose, that's a choice, too.

If we choose not to carefully select, the world will select for us:

  • Fashion: the clothes we wear and the standards of modesty we hold.
  • Food: what chemicals we allow in the food we feed our families
  • Media: what television shows and movies we allow into our homes.
  • Commercials: what sales messages we allow to fill the atmosphere (all of them designed to make you feel discontent)

What are the chances of this world selecting God's best? Right. Slim to none!

Selecting is work. And sometimes your choices will be unpopular. But few things are more important if we want to live a life that matters, than Becoming a Selective Woman.

The #1 Best-selling Book on The Proverbs 31 Woman in the World

Becoming the Woman God Wants Me To Be Book Cover
Available on Amazon & wherever Christian Books are sold

If someone had told me that someday I'd write the #1 best-selling book in the world on the Proverbs 31 woman, I would have said, “You're crazy!”

The truth is, I'm completely unqualified to write anything about the subject. In fact, I always thought she was a fictional character…

But then I met her in person.

You can read the incredible true story of the Colombian widow who inspired the book. Hear how she turned to God after her husband was kidnapped by violent drug lords. She chose to stand up and stand for God.

She epitomized Proverbs 31:13 – She was truly a Selective Woman.

Her final words to me were an assignment, “You must tell women everywhere that what God has done for me, He can do for them also.”

Even typing those words today, 15 years later, I still have chills running down my arms.

That's how powerful the moment was.

The book she inspired has now sold more than 300,000 copies and is the #1 best-selling book in the world on the Proverbs 31 woman. It's called Becoming the Woman God Wants Me To Be: A 90-Day Guide to Living the Proverbs 31 Woman. You can find it on Amazon or wherever Christian books are sold.
