Many Christians who sincerely love God…still hang on to Pet Sins.
Are you one of them? What can you do about Pet Sins?
I cried out to him with my mouth; his praise was on my tongue. If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened; but God has surely listened and heard my voice in prayer. – Psalm 66:17–19
Affirmation: The power of God flows most consistently through pure vessels.
If you aren’t experiencing God’s power, maybe someone hurt you.
Maybe you’ve been hurt, over and over again, by a long succession of people. You haven’t committed some grievous sin, but you have held on to your hurt and become bitter or angry or jealous or full of self-pity. Unfortunately, it doesn’t stop there.
If you’re like most people, anyone who gets within a mile of you will be contaminated too, as your anger, bitterness, or jealousy rubs off on everyone you touch.
We can hold onto these toxic emotions…and they become our Pet Sins. We feed them and keep them around! But unlike your favorite pet, your pen sins won't make you happier. They will only drag you down.
